New worlds of adventure await when you inspire kids to read. Display set pieces along with book jackets (or drawings) of student-recommended book titles. Using TREND’s Wipe-Off® Graphing Grid, divide the genres into sections spelling the word TREASURE. Under each letter, include action items for students to accomplish. Track student progress on a Jumbo Incentive Chart. Choose a student to highlight a number of books by storing them in a lightweight piñata shaped like a treasure chest. Encourage the student to write a summary of why he or she recommends the books. Discuss favorite books and genres.
