WELCOME TO HAWAII BULLETIN BOARD
- Cover the bulletin board with blue paper for sky. Cover the bottom of the bulletin board with green paper for grass.
- Reproduce, color, cut out, and assemble the Hawaiian boy and girl (page 3), and two palm trees (page 39) and staple them onto the bulletin board.
- Print the “Hula Dance” message on this page (Optional: you may add a decorative Hawaiian border) onto white construction paper. Staple the “Hula Dance” message to the bulletin board.
- Make letters that say “Welcome to Hawaii” and staple the words onto the bulletin board.

HULA DANCE
• The word “hula” means “dance” in Hawaiian.
• A person sways their hips and moves their arms and hands gracefully to music. The arms and hands tell the story.
• The hula can tell of the island’s beauty, tell a story, can be a chant accompanied by the rhythm of a drum.
