Spot Who’s Here Today! – Attendance display
Who’s in preschool today? You can find out at a glance with this attractive display! In advance, attach an oversize ladybug cutout to your wall. Attach a class supply of Velcro fasteners (loop side only) to the ladybug. If desired, title the display “Spot Who’s Here Today!” During your open house or on the first day of school, take a photograph of each youngster. Trim around each youngster’s head and then attach it to a black construction paper circle. Laminate the circles for durability and attach the hook side of a Velcro fastener to each circle. Place the resulting spots faceup on a table. When youngsters arrive, have each child find his spot and then attach it to the ladybug.

The Buzz on Names – Getting acquainted game
Color and cut out a copy of the bee pattern on page 7 and laminate it for durability. Gather youngsters in a circle and give a child the bee. As youngsters pass the bee around the circle, prompt them to chant the rhyme shown. When the rhyme ends, have the child holding the bee say his name and then have the remaining youngsters repeat his name. Continue in the same way for several rounds of this game. To add variety to the activity, substitute the underlined words with one of the suggestions and then prompt the children to say the name as described.
Bumblebee, bumblebee, what’s your name?
Say it [really loud] and we’ll do the same!
Suggested substitutions: really soft, really silly, really
squeaky, really high, really low
