Description
Develop concepts of telling time, identifying intervals, calculating elapsed time, and solving problems that deal with time changes, lapses, and changes over the AM/PM cusp.Organized by four units: Concepts, Computation, Problem Solving, and Enrichment.
Grades 1&2 provide a greater focus on concepts, learning to tell time, reading analog and digital clocks, getting an idea of reasonable time frames, and appropriate activities for AM and PM.
Grades 3 & 4 provide a greater focus on computation, such as time lapses – starting time, ending time, and lapsed time – calculating any one based on having the other two.
Activities designed for independent use, although highly appropriate for work in pairs, as a center activity, or as homework.
Assessments for each unit, plus an overall assessment which can be used as a pretest and posttest.
Master clock reproducible page ideal for overhead or as hand-outs.
Addresses NCTM Standards.
Grade-level appropriate.
Includes many graphic organizers for problem solving.
Examples of calendars, schedules, and charts show relationships of time concepts.
Includes digital and analog clocks.
