You have probably noticed that the shadow of a tree moves during the day. It seems to move from one side of the tree to the other. The shadow moves because the Earth rotates once each day. To us, it looks as if the Sun is moving. Sometimes we even talk about the Sun going up or coming down. But it is really the Earth that moves. As it moves, the shadows on the Earth change.
