Class Newsletter
Copy a border that coordinates with a season, holiday, or current classroom theme unit, or have students take turns decorating the blank border page to fit your needs or to reflect their interests. Use a pencil and ruler to divide the space on the copy into five even sections. Label each section with one day of the week, Monday through Friday. Each day, jot down daily happenings in the appropriate space and at week’s end, make copies for each student to color and take home to share with family members. Be sure to save one copy for your own records. Collect your newsletters in a loose-leaf notebook titled “Our Class News.” (Teaching Tip: To make certain each student is mentioned the same number of times over the course of your newsletter publication, keep a class list where you can check off students’ names.)
