- Cover the bulletin board with blue paper for sky. Cover the bottom of the bulletin board with white paper for snow.
- Reproduce, color, cut out, and assemble the “musher” and dog sled (page
3), the eight husky dogs (page 4), the paper dolls (page 11), the woman with child (page 18), and the igloo and children (page 16) and staple onto the bulletin board.
- Print the “Iditarod” message on this page (Optional: You may add a decorative Alaskan border) onto white construction paper. Staple “Iditarod” message to the bulletin board.
- Make letters that say “Welcome to Alaska” and staple the words onto the bulletin board.

IDITAROD
• World’s largest dog sled race.
• The length of the race is more than 1,000 miles from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska.
• The “musher” trains 8-18 huskies to race.
• Each sled is equipped with: snow shoes, sleeping bag, ax, dog’s feet booties, food for dogs and “musher.”
• The prize for the race is $100,000.00 for the first 20 racers who complete the race in 11 to 32 days.
